BROWN COUNTY, WI — A 39-year-old woman has been identified as the driver who died last month after her car crashed off a roadway and into the Fox River in Green Bay, reports NBC26.

The fatal incident occurred on the Ray Nitschke Memorial Bridge on Saturday, May 6, shortly before 7:00 p.m.

Witnesses told authorities they saw a black passenger car with a person inside run off the bridge and into the Fox River below. At around 11:00 p.m., Green Bay Metro Fire Department crews and the Green Bay Police Department’s dive team had recovered both the vehicle and the victim’s body from the water.

Authorities have since identified the victim as Randi Van Lanen, of Green Bay. According to the Brown County Medical Examiner’s Office, she died of drowning. No other occupants were in the vehicle at the time of the wreck.
