OUTAGAMIE COUNTY, WI — A nine-year-old girl died Friday afternoon after being struck by a bobtail semi-tractor unit near Combined Locks, according to NBC26.
The fatal incident occurred on South Washington Street and was first reported by the Wisconsin Department of Transportation just after 3:00 p.m.
Officials have not disclosed the circumstances of the event, but the young girl, a Kimberly resident, sustained fatal injuries and was pronounced deceased.
The driver, a 59-year-old Kaukauna resident, remained at the scene and cooperated with responding officers. Investigators ruled out alcohol as a factor, and no enforcement action or charges have been reported.
Deputies said that security footage obtained from the area and preliminary witness interviews indicate speed did not play a role in the incident.
