MARINETTE COUNTY, WI — A 5-year-old girl died last Thursday afternoon, March 16, after a two-vehicle collision in the Town of Stephenson, reports NBC26.
The Marinette County Sheriff’s Office said the fatal crash happened at Newton Lake Road and County Highway X. Deputies responded to the scene at around 4:03 p.m.
According to officials, a 48-year-old Crivitz resident was driving northbound on Newton Lake Road when he approached a stop sign at County Highway X and stopped. He then entered the intersection, where his vehicle collided with another vehicle driven by a 29-year-old Crivitz resident.
The victim, who was a passenger in the second vehicle, was ejected during the collision and was pronounced deceased. An investigation indicates the young child had not been properly restrained at the time of the crash. Failure to yield was also determined to have been a factor in the fatality.
No other information has been disclosed at this time.
