RACINE COUNTY, WI — A 34-year-old woman was arrested Friday evening after a wrong-way crash that injured multiple people, including children, in east Mount Pleasant, reports TMJ4.
The collision occurred on Washington Avenue near South Green Bay Road at about 7:19 p.m.
According to Mount Pleasant Police, the woman was driving westbound in the eastbound lanes when her vehicle collided with multiple vehicles. Officers arrived to discover up to four vehicles were impacted.
The wrong-way driver, who had three juvenile passengers with her, was taken into custody for Operating While Intoxicated (OWI) and OWI with passengers under the age of 16.
Authorities noted a number of children were also passengers of the other involved vehicles.
All victims, who suffered non-life-threatening injuries, were transported to an area hospital.
Tow crews were called to the scene to remove the vehicles, all of which were significantly damaged in the wreck.
The Mount Pleasant Police Department continues to investigate.
