OUTAGAMIE COUNTY, WI — A 45-year-old man from Bear Creek died Friday evening after a two-vehicle wreck on County Highway D near the town of Deer Creek, according to NBC26.

The fatal collision occurred at the intersection with Schweitzer Road. Officials from the Outagamie County Sheriff’s Office responded to the scene at about 5:40 p.m.

A preliminary investigation indicates a 41-year-old man, also of Bear Creek, was driving a pickup truck eastbound on Schweitzer Road toward County Highway D. Authorities said that driver failed to yield to the right-of-way of the victim’s pickup truck, which was traveling northbound on County Highway D. Moments later, the two pickups collided.

The driver of the northbound pickup was pronounced deceased on the scene, confirmed the sheriff’s office. The driver of the eastbound pickup suffered minor injuries, but it was unclear whether they had to be taken to a hospital.

Authorities had the intersection shut down for nearly four hours during the response.

An investigation remains ongoing, but alcohol is not believed to have been a factor in the wreck.
