RACINE COUNTY, WI — The vehicle that was involved in a fatal hit-and-run pedestrian crash on Thursday, December 22, has been located by Racine Police, according to FOX 6 Milwaukee.
The discovery was made on January 3, nearly a week after authorities responded to the scene in front of a residence at the corner of Erie Street and Hagerer Street.
A preliminary indicates the victim, a 69-year-old man, had gone outside to start his car at about 10:30 p.m. when he was struck by a vehicle that fled the site. Photos shared by police following the incident show the striking vehicle to be a gray 2019-2022 Subaru Ascent.
First responders rushed the victim to a local hospital where he was then airlifted to another hospital. He was later pronounced deceased.
No other details have been disclosed at this time, but the found vehicle has since been towed and is being processed for evidence.
Authorities continue to investigate and search for the hit-and-run driver.
