DOOR COUNTY, WI — A 33-year-old man died early Saturday after a single-vehicle accident on Wisconsin Highway 42 in the town of Liberty Grove, according to NBC26.
The Door County Sheriff’s Office said the fatal wreck took place on the Ellison Bay hill, at about 4:47 a.m. Multiple emergency crews responded to the scene shortly after.
A preliminary investigation by the DCSO indicates the man was driving a black 2005 Envoy northbound, when, for reasons still unknown, he lost control of the vehicle. The Envoy appeared to have veered past the center line before traveling into the north ditch and striking multiple trees.
The male driver, an Ellison Bay resident, died from his injuries at the scene.
A section of WIS-42 was blocked off between 5:00 a.m. to about 8:48 a.m. as officials conducted an initial investigation.
At this time, an autopsy by the Brown County Medical Examiner’s Office is pending.
