MILWAUKEE, WI — A one-year-old baby died late Friday night after a hit-and-run collision in northwest Milwaukee, according to TMJ4.
The fatal incident occurred near the corner of North 35th Street and West Hope Avenue, in the city’s Lincoln Creek neighborhood, at about 11:30 p.m.
Milwaukee Police said the baby was traveling in a white Pontiac driven by a 31-year-old woman when, for reasons still being investigated, it was involved in a crash with a green Dodge Caravan.
Moments after the wreck, the occupants of the Caravan fled the scene on foot. The baby and the driver of the Pontiac were both rushed to a local hospital, where they baby died from his injuries. Authorities said the driver of the Pontiac, who suffered injuries considered non-life-threatening, was taken into custody.
At this time, the Milwaukee Police Department continues to investigate the crash and search for unknown suspects.
