MILWAUKEE, WI — A 65-year-old man died Monday after a wreck involving a stolen vehicle in Milwaukee’s Midtown neighborhood, reports TMJ4.
The fatal collision occurred at the intersection of North 27th Street and West Vliet Street, at about 1:00 p.m.
Milwaukee Police said a vehicle that was recently reported stolen was heading on North 27th Street at a high rate of speed. At the intersection, the driver ran a red light, causing the vehicle to collide with a car traveling westbound on Vliet Street.
The passenger in the victim vehicle, a Milwaukee resident, died from his injuries at the scene, confirmed officials. The driver, a 26-year-old man, suffered undisclosed injuries and was transported to a an area hospital.
Moments after the crash, all occupants of the stolen vehicle fled the scene on foot.
The intersection was blocked off for over an hour during the response and initial investigation. The Milwaukee Police said the unknown suspects remain at large.
