RACINE COUNTY, WI — A 20-year-old woman was critically injured Monday morning in a two-vehicle crash on Wisconsin Highway 32 near east Caledonia, reports TMJ4.
The collision occurred over a span of the highway between Tabor Road and Harvest Lane. Caledonia Police were called to the scene at about 6:15 a.m.
According to authorities, a 21-year-old Illinois man was driving southbound when his vehicle traveled past the center line and into the opposing lane. It then collided with a northbound vehicle driven by the woman.
First responders had to extricate the female driver, who suffered life-threatening injuries. She was transported by airlift to an area hospital where her condition remains undisclosed.
The male driver, who sustained minor injuries, was also taken to a hospital.
All lanes in both directions were blocked between Tabor Road and Harvest Lane during the emergency response but later reopened.
An investigation was underway, but police said alcohol is a suspected factor in the wreck.
