BROWN COUNTY, WI — A vehicle accident late Tuesday morning closed a section of Velp Avenue in northwest Green Bay, according to NBC26.
Green Bay Police said the incident occurred in the 1300 block of the road, forcing travel lanes in both directions to shut down and stay closed for much of the afternoon.
It was unclear what caused the crash, but the impact caused a power pole to collapse and wires to fall down over the roadway. Barricades were erected around the area, and Wisconsin Public Service (WPS) crews responded to the scene to assist police.
Motorists were urged to avoid the area and fine alternate routes until about 2:45 p.m. At 3:30 p.m., one lane of traffic was reopened.
Authorities have not indicated any injuries in the crash.
