MILWAUKEE, WI — Three young adults were arrested Monday afternoon after a rollover crash near Veterans Park in downtown Milwaukee, reports TMJ4.
The Cudahy Police Department said the wreck occurred on Lincoln Memorial Drive at around 1:00 p.m., a few minutes after officers had terminated a pursuit of the involved vehicle.
A preliminary investigation shows the events unfolded when Cudahy Police responded to the area of Whitnall and Grange in Cudahy after receiving a call about three suspects in a car pointing guns at a caller. Officers initially located the vehicle and tried to pull it over, but the driver did not stop, prompting a chase. Officers pursue the car on the northbound lanes of Interstate 794 from Edgerton, but then terminated the chase at Howard in the City of St. Francis as the vehicle’s speed exceeded 100 miles per hour.
The Milwaukee County Sheriff’s Office later alerted Cudahy Police to a single-car crash near the park involving the previously pursued vehicle, which turned out to be stolen out of Illinois. Two firearms were also recovered from the vehicle.
From the vehicle, authorities arrested three Milwaukee residents, including a 24-year-old man, a 23-year-old man, and a 19-year-old woman. It was unclear whether anyone was seriously hurt, but the suspects face charges of “recklessly endangering safety, knowingly fleeing an officer, and operating a motor vehicle without the owner’s consent.”
An investigation by the MCSO and the Milwaukee Area Safe Streets Task Force is underway.
