MILWAUKEE COUNTY, WI — A suspected drunk driver was arrested Tuesday afternoon after fleeing a traffic stop and causing a multi-vehicle crash in Wauwatosa, reports TMJ4.
The collision occurred at the intersection of North Mayfair Road (Wisconsin Highway 100) and West Watertown Plank Road, shortly after 4:25 p.m.
Authorities said the events unfolded when a Wauwatosa tried to stop a reckless driver in the parking lot of Mayfair Mall. The driver refused to stop for the officer and instead went southbound down Mayfair Road, prompting a brief pursuit.
The chase was terminated after the fleeing vehicle hit another vehicle at Mayfair and Watertown Plank. Due to the impact, the victim vehicle then struck two other cars.
No injuries were reported in the incident, but the fleeing driver was taken into custody under suspicion of OWI (Operating While Intoxicated).
