CALUMET COUNTY, WI — A horse suffered serious injuries Sunday evening due to a hit-and-run crash off Firelane 13 in the village of Harrison, reports NBC26.

The Calumet County Sheriff’s Office said the incident occurred off the northbound lanes of the road, just after 8:00 p.m.

An early investigation indicates a driver in a pickup truck was traveling northbound when they veered off the roadway and entered a horse pasture. Before fleeing the scene, the vehicle collided with a fence, a utility pole, and a horse, leaving the animal seriously injured.

At this time, officials continue to search for the suspect and fleeing vehicle, which they believe to be a Ford truck with a missing front grill and damage to its headlight assembly.

The sheriff’s office asks anyone with information to call investigators at 920-849-2335. Those wishing to remain anonymous can also reach Crime Stoppers at 1-877-765-8327.
