MANITOWOC COUNTY, WI — A 20-year-old Green Bay man died early Tuesday after a head-on crash that hurt another driver on County Road W in the Township of Rockland, reports NBC26.
The fatal accident happened at the intersection with Milwaukee Street. Deputies with the Manitowoc County Sheriff’s Office, EMS, and fire crews responded to the scene at around 4:35 a.m.
Investigators said the young man was driving a Volkswagen Jetta southbound at the same time a 54-year-old Kiel man was driving a a Chevrolet Colorado northbound. At one point, the driver of the Chevrolet Colorado tried to perform a passing maneuver, leading to a head-on crash.
The driver of the VW Jetta died from his injuries at the scene, confirmed officials.
Medics transported the driver of the Chevrolet Colorado to an area hospital with undisclosed injuries. No other occupants in either vehicle were involved.
At this time, no pending charges or citations have been reported.
An investigation by the Wisconsin State Patrol and the MCSO remains ongoing.
