FOND DU LAC COUNTY, WI — A 57-year-old man was taken into custody Saturday night after being involved in multiple hit-and-run crashes and fleeing police in Fond du Lac, reports NBC26.

The events first unfolded in the 1100 block of East Johnson Street. Fond du Lac Police responded to the scene after receiving a call about a hit-and-run.

According to authorities, the man was driving a black SUV when the vehicle collided with another vehicle in a parking lot and drove away. Shortly after 9:00 a.m., the SUV went on to reverse into a vehicle at West Scott Street and Lakeshore Driver. It was later reported to have hit a parked vehicle, pushing it into a structure, in the 300 block of Doty Street.

After locating the SUV, police tried to conduct a traffic stop on the vehicle at North Main Street and East McWilliams Street, but the driver fled, prompting a pursuit. Eventually, the fleeing vehicle hit a Fond du Lac Sheriff’s Office squad car at South Park Avenue and East Second Street.

Authorities performed a “high-risk” traffic stop and were able to apprehend the suspect, who was arrested on multiple charges, including Reckless Driving and Operating While Intoxicated – 2nd Offense.

An investigation remains ongoing.
