News: WAPD officer hit, injured by vehicle fleeing West Allis traffic stop

MILWAUKEE COUNTY, WI — A WAPD officer was injured late Thursday afternoon when he was hit by a vehicle during a traffic stop in West Allis, reports TMJ4.

The events unfolded in the area of South 84th Street and West Greenfield Avenue at around 4:30 p.m.

According to the West Allis Police Department, the officer had pulled a car over but then it fled the scene, striking the officer.

The fleeing vehicle was located shortly after near South 70th Street and West Greenfield Avenue. Officers signaled the driver to stop but the vehicle continued away, prompting a pursuit. Officials said the vehicle collided with multiple other vehicles in the area of 64th and Greenfield.

After a foot chase, the driver was apprehended.

The officer was transported to a local hospital with minor injuries and has since been released.

No further details have been released at this time, as an investigation remains underway.
