MILWAUKEE COUNTY, WI — A 38-year-old woman has died after being struck by a vehicle while riding a bicycle last Saturday in West Allis, according to CBS58.

The fatal crash happened near the intersection of South 65th Street and West Greenfield Avenue on October 1, just after 9:45 a.m.

A witness told West Allis Police a male driver in a tan Toyota was traveling at around 45 to 50 miles per hour when the car struck the cyclist, who was only a block away from her residence.

The victim was rushed to an area hospital and later died as a result of her injuries.

Officials said the impact of the crash sent the bicycle 60 feet away and left the car’s windshield crushed.

The driver, who displayed signs of intoxication at the scene, was initially arrested for an investigation into “OWI causing injury.”
