SHAWANO COUNTY, WI — A 16-year-old boy was fatally injured Sunday morning in a single-vehicle rollover crash in the town of Bartelme, reports NBC26.
The accident happened in the area of Mill Road and Stony Curve Road. Officers with the Shawano County Sheriff’s Office responded to the scene at around 8:30 a.m.
It was unclear what led up to the wreck, but officers arrived to find the teen driver trapped in a vehicle, which had overturned in a ditch hours earlier. Authorities said the teen’s condition had not allowed him to call 911, and passing drivers had not seen the wrecked vehicle due to the steep incline of the ditch.
The victim, a resident of the Bowler area, was rushed to a local hospital upon his removal from the wreckage. He later died as a result of his injuries, confirmed the sheriff’s office.
