MILWAUKEE, WI — One person died early Saturday after being struck by a vehicle on Interstate 43 near downtown Milwaukee’s Westown neighborhood, reports Milwaukee Journal Sentinel.
The fatal incident occurred on the northbound lanes at West Highland Avenue at about 3:15 a.m.
Few details have been released at this time, but the Milwaukee County Sheriff’s Office confirmed one person died as a result of their injuries.
The northbound interstate was shut down in the area for several hours. By 8:30 a.m., the Wisconsin Department of Transportation announced the lanes had reopened to traffic.
It was unclear whether the driver remained at the scene, and no further information has been made available as of this writing.
