CALUMET COUNTY, WI — A man was taken into custody early Tuesday after crashing his vehicle into Lake Winnebago, according to WBAY.
The accident occurred off Faro Springs Road, near Fairy Springs Road, in north Stockbridge. It was first reported just before 4:00 a.m.
Authorities did not share the events leading up to the wreck, but by the time rescue teams and divers arrived, the male driver had already been able to return to shore safely.
As a precaution, divers conducted a search in the water and along the shoreline to confirm no one else was hurt or in the vehicle at the time of the crash.
The driver was arrested after displaying signs of intoxication.
Crews were working to remove the submerged vehicle.
