CALUMET COUNTY, WI — A 16-year-old De Pere girl died Thursday evening after a single-vehicle crash that left another teenager injured in the town of Charleston, reports NBC26.
The fatal accident happened on a span of Lemke Road north of U.S. Highway 151, at about 7:48 p.m.
According to the Calumet County Sheriff’s Office, the girl was driving a vehicle northbound on the road when she veered off the roadway, causing the car to strike a tree.
The female driver died on the scene as a result of her injuries, confirmed officials.
Her passenger, a 17-year-old Green Bay boy, suffered non-life-threatening injuries. He was flown to ThedaCare Regional Medical Center in Neenah.
The CCSO continues to investigate the crash, but officials said speed appears to be a factor. Drugs and alcohol are not believed to have contributed.
