RACINE COUNTY, WI — A vehicle caught fire Tuesday afternoon after a multi-vehicle collision on Wisconsin Highway 31 near southeast Mount Pleasant, according to TMJ4.

The accident happened on a span of the highway (Green Bay Road) at Biscayne Avenue, at about 2:44 p.m.

Officers with the Mount Pleasant Police Department learned a woman driving a red Jeep had come to a stop as a school bus ahead was dropping off children. At one point, the driver of the Jeep hit her gas pedal, causing the vehicle to strike another vehicle. That victim vehicle then collided with a sedan. The impact of the initial crash caused the Jeep to catch on fire.

A photo taken at the scene shows significant crash and fire damage to the Jeep’s front-end.

Authorities said no one was reported hurt in the incident, but a section of the road was blocked for an hour as crews worked to clear debris.

No pending charges or citations have been reported at this time.
