MILWAUKEE, WI — Four people were injured Tuesday afternoon in a chain-reaction crash after a driver ran a red light near northwest Milwaukee, reports FOX6 Milwaukee.
The hit-and-run wreck occurred near the intersection of West Appleton Avenue and West Capitol Drive, at about 3:30 p.m.
According to Milwaukee Police, one driver failed to stop at a red light and struck a second vehicle. The impact of that crash sent the second vehicle into a third vehicle.
The second vehicle’s driver, a 77-year-old man, was left trapped in the wreckage and had to be extricated. He suffered serious injuries and was rushed to a local hospital along with his passenger, an 89-year-old man, who also sustained undisclosed injuries.
A 30-year-old man and a 31-year-old woman in the third vehicle were also injured and transported to a hospital.
At this time, officials continue to search for the causing driver, who fled the scene on foot.
