WASHINGTON COUNTY, WI — A 22-year-old man was killed Sunday morning in a single-vehicle accident on County Highway M in the Town of Farmington, reports FOX6 Milwaukee.
The fatal wreck occurred off a span of the highway between County Trunk A and River Road.
Sheriff’s officials said the young man was driving southbound on County Highway M when, for reasons still unknown, he veered east past the center line and into the northbound lane. The vehicle then left the roadway through the east shoulder before colliding with a utility pole and a group of trees.
When a technician later responded to the site to attend to reports of the broken pole, they discover the vehicle vacant. The victim was then found “unresponsive and unconscious” after having been ejected in the crash. First responders declared him deceased at the scene.
A section of County Highway M was shut down during the response.
An investigation was underway, but authorities said speed appears to have contributed to the wreck.
