MILWAUKEE, WI — A 22-year-old Hortonville man died early Sunday after being struck by a vehicle while walking onto Interstate 94 near Marquette University in downtown Milwaukee, reports TMJ4.
The fatal incident occurred on the northbound lanes near North 16th Street at about 12:30 a.m.
According to authorities, a caller had reported a pedestrian walking on the interstate just prior to the crash. Witnesses said they saw the young man stumbling while walking on the shoulder and then traveling into a traffic lane, He appeared to have his hands behind his head when he stepped into the path of a car, which hit him while moving at about 50 and 60 miles per hour.
Milwaukee Police arrived at the scene to find the victim lying on top of the involved vehicle. He was pronounced deceased by the Milwaukee County Medical Examiner’s Office.
All westbound lanes in the area were blocked for several hours during the response and investigation. No further details have been shared at this time.
