MILWAUKEE COUNTY, WI — Two people were hospitalized early Friday after a wrong-way collision near Interstate 43 in southeast Glendale, according to FOX6 Milwaukee.

The crash occurred on North Port Washington Road near an embankment to the interstate on August 5.

Glendale Police officers said they tried to pull over an SUV traveling against traffic, but its driver sped away with their lights off. The vehicle was said to have reached speeds of up to 90 miles per hour when it struck a wall and overturned.

A passenger in the SUV was ejected onto the roadway and the driver was initially found unconscious in the passenger’s seat of the rolled vehicle.

Both occupants were transported to a local hospital with injuries considered non-life-threatening.

The driver, who was suspected of operating while intoxicated, has since been charged with “recklessly endangering safety” and “fleeing an officer.”

An investigation remains in progress and results to a blood test are pending.
