RACINE COUNTY, WI — A 43-year-old man was sent to a hospital Sunday afternoon after driving his vehicle into the Root River in Racine, reports FOX6 Milwaukee.
The wreck occurred off the Root River Pathway, in the area of 6th Street and Memorial Drive.
According to Racine Police, the man was driving an SUV southbound on the pathway when the vehicle went into the water. The victim was able to exit the vehicle and was found sitting on its roof when crews arrived to conduct a water rescue.
It was unclear whether the man suffered injuries as a result of the crash, but he was transported to a local hospital for treatment of a medical condition.
No other occupants were in the vehicle at the time, and no other injuries were reported.
An investigation was underway, but authorities believe alcohol contributed to the accident.
