MANITOWOC COUNTY, WI — A 66-year-old Green Bay man was hospitalized Saturday after a crash involving a motorcycle and a semi on Interstate 43 near Maribel, according to Seehafer News.
The incident occurred on the southbound interstate north of Schley Road on August 6, shortly before noon.
An early investigation indicates the victim was riding a motorcycle southbound in the left lane when he approached a construction zone. A semi-truck that had been traveling in the right lane started to merge into the left lane and into the path of the motorcycle.
Officials said the rider was then forced to veer off the roadway and into the median, where the motorcycle flipped.
The victim was rushed by ambulance to Maribel Community Center and then later airlifted to Green Bay’s St. Vincent Hospital.
As of Tuesday, August 9, the patient remains hospitalized with undisclosed injuries.
No information has been shared regarding the semi or its driver, who fled the scene without stopping.
