MILWAUKEE COUNTY, WI — A vehicle crash Wednesday afternoon caused a major traffic backup on Interstate 41 near northwest Wauwatosa, according to TTWN Milwaukee.
The collision occurred on the southbound interstate (U.S. Highway 45) at Exit 43 to West Burleigh Street, near The Mayfair Collection outlet mall. It was first reported by TTWN at 3:00 p.m.
Officials have not released details on the circumstances behind the wreck, but a right lane was blocked as a result. At the time of the report, traffic had backed up to West Silver Spring Drive, three exits back.

The closure remained in place for at least 30 minutes. By 3:30 p.m., the backup had stretched another three exits back to Leon Road, near Menomonee Falls.
