OCONTO COUNTY, WI — Two people were seriously injured Saturday afternoon in a motorcycle accident on U.S. Highway 41 near north Lena, according to Green Bay Press Gazette.
The wreck occurred on the northbound highway, less than a mile south of Sunny Brook Road, at around 2:15 p.m.
A preliminary investigation indicates a 51-year-old New Berlin man was operating a motorcycle in the northbound left lane when the bike started to shake back and forth.
The Oconto County Sheriff’s Office said the man then lost control of the motorcycle, causing it to crash in the right lane.
The operator and his passenger, a 44-year-old New Berlin woman, both suffered serious injuries and were rushed to Green Bay’s St. Vincent Hospital.
Officials noted neither victim was wearing a helmet at the time of the crash. The operator has since received a citation “for operating a motorcycle without a valid license.”
