SAUK COUNTY, WI — One person died Wednesday morning after being struck by a driver while walking on a road in the Township of Greenfield, reports NBC15.
The Sauk County Sheriff’s Office responded to the scene on Durwards Glen Road, just north of Luebke Road, shortly after 9:30 a.m.
A preliminary investigation indicates a driver in an SUV was traveling northbound on Durwards Glen Road when they hit the pedestrian, who was walking southbound on the eastbound side of the road.
A medical helicopter was initially requested at the scene, but the victim died from their injuries minutes after first responders arrived.
Authorities said the driver stayed at the scene after calling 911 and cooperated with investigators.
No further information has been provided at this time, but an investigation remain ongoing.
