MARINETTE COUNTY, WI — A 53-year-old Oconto man died Saturday evening after a single-vehicle motorcycle wreck on U.S. Highway 41 near the Town of Grover, reports We Are Green Bay.
The Marinette County Sheriff’s Office said the fatal accident occurred shortly before 6:00 p.m.
According to authorities, the man was riding a motorcycle at a high rate of speed and passing multiple vehicles prior to the crash. At one point, he lost control of the bike, causing the bike to skid before it came to rest on the shoulder of the highway.
First responders administered life-saving measures at the scene, but the victim died from his injuries at the scene.
Deputies said alcohol is not a suspect factor in the crash, but noted the rider had not been wearing a helmet.
No further details have been made available at this time. An investigation by the MCSO remains ongoing.
