MILWAUKEE, WI — A 21-year-old woman faces a felony charge after a crash Saturday, June 25, that claimed the life of a passenger and hurt two others in northwest Milwaukee, reports FOX6 Milwaukee.
The fatal wreck occurred near North 35th Street and West Fond du Lac Avenue, in the city’s Sherman Hill neighborhood.
A preliminary investigation indicates the young woman was driving a Kia Forte without having ever been issued a valid driver’s license. Prosecutors said she was attempting a U-turn after having spotted a Dodge Magnum travel up Fond du Lac. Moments later, the Kia was hit by the Dodge.
The woman’s mother, who was a passenger in the Kia, was seriously injured in the crash and later died at a local hospital. Investigators noted the driver’s 7-year-old son was also in the vehicle at the time.
A woman and a child in the Dodge suffered undisclosed injuries and were also taken to a hospital.
Officials said the causing driver made her first court appearance on July 1. She has since received a $5,000 signature bond.
