WINNEBAGO COUNTY, WI — An 8-month-old infant died Monday night after a semi tractor-trailer crashed off Interstate 41 and into a Vinland residence, according to TMJ4.
The Winnebago County Sheriff’s Office said the fatal wreck occurred along Green Valley Road off the southbound interstate, just north of Oshkosh, at around 6:00 p.m.
An early investigation indicates a 63-year-old Little Chute man was driving the semi southbound when the truck veered off the interstate, slammed through a fence line and crossed a frontage road before crashing into the house.
The sheriff’s office confirmed the child died at the site of the crash.
Officials said the driver suffered minor injuries, though it was unclear whether he was taken to a hospital.
A section of Green Valley Road between Wisconsin Highway 76 and County Highway GG was shut down for more than 10 hours during the response and investigation.
The cause of the crash has not been shared, but at this time, no arrests or pending charges have been reported.
