WASHINGTON COUNTY, WI — A 30-year-old Mayville woman and her 1-year-old son died early Wednesday evening after a multi-vehicle collision in the Village of Richfield, reports Milwaukee Journal Sentinel.
The fatal crash occurred on Wisconsin Highway 164 at Elmwood Road, shortly before 5:42 p.m.
According to the Washington County Sheriff’s Office, the woman was driving southbound when she was rear-ended, sending her vehicle into the northbound lanes. Shortly after, the woman’s car was hit by an oncoming vehicle.
Officials said the woman and her son both suffered fatal injuries and were pronounced deceased at the scene.
Occupants in the two other vehicles were reported injured, but as of this writing, the sheriff’s office has not released details on their condition.
A section of WIS-164 between Highway Q and WIS-167 was shut down during the response and investigation.
At this time, no pending charges or citations have been reported.
