OCONTO COUNTY, WI — A 44-year-old Green Bay man was hospitalized last Saturday after his motorcycle struck a deer on U.S. Highway 41 near Brookside, reports Green Bay Press-Gazette.

The incident occurred on the northbound highway east of Moody Road on June 18, shortly after 6:30 a.m.

According to the Oconto County Sheriff’s Office, the man was riding a 2014 Harley-Davidson motorcycle northbound in the left lane of the four-lane highway. At one point, a deer darted out from the nearby woods and entered his path, causing a collision.

Officials said the impact of the crash caused the rider to eject and slide about 50 yards down the lane as his motorcycle traveled 100 yards.

The man suffered serious injuries and was rushed by ambulance to Aurora BayCare Medical Center in Green Bay. No updates on his condition have been released at this time.

The sheriff’s office noted in their report that the man had been wearing a half-helmet, in addition to “gloves, boots, a jacket and long pants.”

No further information has been provided as of this writing.
