RACINE COUNTY, WI — Two people were killed Tuesday when the semi-tractor trailers they were driving collided on Wisconsin Highway 11 near east Union Grove, reports Channel 3000.
According to the Union Grove-Yorkville Fire Department, the fatal crash involved a tanker truck carrying corn starch and a semi-truck transporting plastic drain tile.
It was unclear what caused the collision, but both drivers were pronounced deceased at the scene. No other injuries were reported.
The impact of the crash caused at least one of the vehicles to catch fire, and smoke could be observed from the scene several miles away.
A section of WIS-11 was shut down during the emergency response and remained blocked by late into the afternoon.
