DODGE COUNTY, WI — An overturned semi-truck and a resulting ethanol spill Wednesday morning forced nearby residents to evacuate their homes in Beaver Dam, reports TMJ4.

The Dodge County Sheriff’s Office said the crash occurred on Hemlock Road at about 9:00 a.m.

According to authorities, a semi was carrying ethanol when it traveled off the roadway, collided with a culvert, and rolled over.

No injuries to the 59-year-old driver were reported, but a volume of ethanol poured out onto the roadway.

As crews worked to contain the spill, the entire roadway was shut down, and power in the nearby area was also turned off.

Residents and drivers were asked to stay away from the scene until about 7:30 p.m., when the road way reopened and power was turned back on.

Multiple area agencies responded to the incident.
