WINNEBAGO COUNTY, WI — A 24-year-old man died early Sunday morning after being struck by a vehicle on Wisconsin Highway 76 near Neenah, reports WBAY.

Deputies with the Winnebago County Sheriff’s Office responded to the scene north of East Shady Lane, shortly after the driver reported the incident at 12:19 a.m.

An early investigation shows a 39-year-old woman was driving a 2008 Nissan Altima northbound on the highway when she hit the male pedestrian.

First responders applied life-saving measures to the victim, but he was pronounced deceased at the scene.

Authorities said the driver, who was alone in the vehicle, was not injured.

The highway was shut down until about 4:00 a.m. during the emergency response and investigation.
