RACINE COUNTY, WI — A man was critically injured Thursday morning after Franklin Police Department officers tried to end a pursuit with stop sticks near Oak Creek, reports CBS58.

According to authorities, officers began pursuing the man, described as a reckless driver, on West Puetz Road.

At one point during the chase, officials used stop sticks on the suspect’s vehicle. It was unclear whether the driver was involved in a resulting crash at that time or later, but he continued traveling with deflated tires.

Officers later located the vehicle in Racine County, off U.S. Highway 45 in the village of Yorkville, where the chase was said to have ended.

The suspect was found suffering from serious injuries. Officers applied life-saving measures to the patient until medics arrived. He was then transported to a local hospital, where he was listed in critical condition.

No other injuries were reported.

No other details have been shared at this time, but an investigation was underway.
