RACINE COUNTY, WI — One person suffered minor injuries early last Friday in a series of collisions on Interstate 94 near Mt. Pleasant, reports FOX6 Milwaukee.
The accident occurred on the southbound lanes near Wisconsin Highway 20 on April 1, shortly before 7:00 a.m.
According to the Racine County Sheriff’s Office, the driver of a pickup truck lost control and hit the median near the intersection. The vehicle came to rest in the roadway, partially blocking one lane.
Authorities said deputies were responding to the scene as three other vehicles line up behind one squad car, waiting to move into the open traffic lane. Shortly after, a fourth vehicle lost control and struck the back of the line. The chain-reaction crash also impacted the squad car.
All southbound lanes were then shut down for about 15 minutes, followed by a series of partial closures for an hour after that.
The driver of the fourth vehicle received treatment for minor injuries at the scene. No other injuries were reported.
No further information has been shared at this time, but the sheriff’s office noted that freezing temperatures at the time caused “extremely icy” road conditions.
