MILWAUKEE, WI — A 31-year-old woman was charged for her alleged role in a collision on Friday, March 25, that killed a male cyclist in southwest Milwaukee, reports CBS58.
The fatal incident occurred near the intersection of South 20th Street and West Grant Street at about 11:30 a.m.
According to Milwaukee Police, a blue four-door 2002-2007 Jeep Liberty was heading northbound on 20th Street when it struck a 41-year-old man on a bicycle. The vehicle then continued northbound without stopping.
The victim died from his injuries at the scene despite life-saving measures.
On March 30, the suspected Jeep was located in Marinette County, bearing damage consistent with the crash. At one point in the investigation, the woman’s boyfriend was arrested after she told authorities he had been driving the Jeep at the time of the incident. However, investigators later determined the woman was in the driver’s seat after further assessment of the surveillance footage.
As of this writing, the suspect has not been placed under custody. Anyone with information on her location is urged to call Milwaukee police.
