News: MPD officer hurt in crash with OWI suspect on WIS-24 near SW Milwaukee

MILWAUKEE, WI — An MPD officer was hospitalized early Sunday after his vehicle was rear-ended by a suspected intoxicated driver in southwest Milwaukee, reports CBS58.

The collision occurred in the area of North 33rd Street and West Forest Home Avenue (Wisconsin Highway 24) at about 3:00 a.m.

According to Milwaukee police, the officer was conducting a traffic stop on another vehicle when his patrol car was hit from behind by a 30-year-old male driver.

The officer was transported to an area hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. Another officer who was insider the cruiser at the time was not reported hurt.

Authorities said the striking driver was taken into custody under suspicion of OWI. At this time, no information on any pending charges has been released.
