MILWAUKEE, WI — A 21-year-old man was taken into custody last Tuesday morning after a rollover wreck on Interstate 43 in Milwaukee’s Saveland Park area, reports TMJ4.
Milwaukee Police said the collision occurred on the northbound lanes near West Holt Avenue, on April 12 at around 9:45 a.m.
A criminal complaint alleges the young man was driving recklessly, speeding between lanes, and had cut off multiple vehicles before he collided head-on with the median wall. The vehicle then bounced off the wall, struck the wall again, then flipped. Authorities said the vehicle landed upside down and slid before arriving at a rest.
Officers discovered the suspect’s passenger, a 4-year-old boy, climbing out through the vehicle’s broken rear windshield. No car seat or booster seat was found in the vehicle at the time, but a loaded AK-47 style rifle was recovered.
The suspect fled the scene on foot shortly after the crash, but authorities were later able to locate and arrest him. He now faces multiple criminal charges.
