MANITOWOC COUNTY, WI — Two people were arrested last Saturday after a pursuit that ended in a crash, injuring a deputy and police K-9 near Reedsville, reports NBC26.
The events first unfolded early morning near Village Drive in Manitowoc Rapids, after deputies with the Manitowoc County Sheriff’s Office spotted a reckless driver in a stolen 2003 Toyota Highlander.
Deputies pursued the driver, a 28-year-old man, who was traveling westbound on U.S. Highway 10 at speeds up to 100 miles per hour during the chase.
After the suspect turned off the highway and onto a dead-end road near Reedsville, the stolen vehicle slammed into multiple patrol cars. The driver then fled the scene on foot as the female passenger got into the driver’s seat. She struck two squad cars before speeding away.
A police dog, who was pinched between the two squad cars, and a deputy received treatment for minor injuries in the crash.
The 20-year-old female suspect was later apprehended by police using a P.I.T. maneuver. It was unclear whether the male suspect, 28, had also been located, but both individuals face multiple charges, including “reckless endangerment, fleeing an officer, and operating a vehicle without the owner’s consent.”
