MILWAUKEE, WI — Two men were injured in a collision Tuesday afternoon during a police chase near north Milwaukee’s Harambee neighborhood, reports FOX6 Milwaukee.
The crash happened in the area of North 1st Avenue and East Burleigh Street shortly after 4:30 p.m.
According to Milwaukee Police, the events unfolded when officers spotted a vehicle that was wanted for fleeing. They tried to conduct a traffic stop near 16th and Meinecke, but the driver refused to yield, prompting a pursuit. At one point during the chase, the suspect lost control of their vehicle and hit a curb, causing the car to overturn near 1st and Burleigh.
Two male occupants in the vehicle, the 38-year-old driver and a 33-year-old passenger, attempted to flee on foot but were soon caught and arrested. They suffered non-life-threatening injuries and were transported to an area hospital.
Authorities said the Milwaukee County District Attorney’s Office will be handling criminal charges in the case.
