MILWAUKEE, WI — A 65-year-old man was fatally injured by a hit-and-run driver late Saturday night in Milwaukee’s Wahl Park neighborhood, reports Milwaukee Journal Sentinel.
Milwaukee police said the incident occurred on West Hampton Avenue, near North 49th Street, at about 11:35 p.m.
An early investigation indicates the man was crossing the road when he was hit by a vehicle, whose driver fled the scene without stopping.
A bystander was able to get the attention of a squad car shortly after the crash, but did not remain at the scene.
Authorities confirmed the victim died from his injuries the following morning.
No description of the suspect vehicle has been released as of this writing, but an investigation remains ongoing.
