MILWAUKEE, WI — Four people were hospitalized Monday afternoon after a multi-vehicle collision involving a Bell ambulance in Milwaukee’s Castle Manor neighborhood, reports FOX 6 Milwaukee.
The accident occurred near the intersection of South 20th Street and West Layton Avenue at about 3:40 p.m.
An early investigation indicates an ambulance was traveling with its lights and sirens activated when it was hit by another vehicle. The impact of the crash caused the ambulance to overturn and collided with a third vehicle.
All three occupants in the ambulance had to be extricated from the ambulance and were transported to a local hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
Authorities said the driver of the striking vehicle also suffered non-fatal injuries, but it was unclear whether or not he was required transport to a hospital. He has since been issued a citation for his role in the incident.
No injuries to the occupants of the third vehicle were reported.
