News: Driver killed in crash with semi after running red light near New London

OUTAGAMIE COUNTY, WI — A 33-year-old man died late Friday afternoon after a two-vehicle collision on U.S. Highway 45 near southeast New London, reports We Are Green Bay.

The fatal crash happened near the highway’s intersection with County Highway T shortly before 3:50 p.m.

According to the Outagamie County Sheriff’s Office, the man was behind the wheel of a pickup truck when he ran a red light. Moments later, the pickup collided with a tanker trailer driven by a 38-year-old man.

The driver of the pickup truck died from his injuries at the scene, confirmed authorities.

The truck driver, who was not reported injured, stayed after the crash and cooperated with officers.

Both lanes on US-45 were closed for nearly five hours as an investigation was conducted.
